Emblem – Public Mural
Multi-disciplinary artist/educator Christina Mitrentse and artist/print-maker Jonas Ranson collaborating on a 17 meter Wall Mural entitled EMBLEM as part of the Hackney wicked Art Festival. The site-specific work made by hand-pulled silkscreen on paper mounted on panel and will be on view at Prince Edward Road, next to the Hackney Pearl from 29th-31st July 2011. The EMBLEM reflects on the current socio-political events that European societies are facing, a parallel to the actual cultural communities in London and beyond. The hand made technique specifically used in the work ,as a metaphor for the Artists’ labor in the Do It Yourself culture. Within the multicultural context of Hackney Wick Art Mecca, the street mural alludes to the an euphoric Emblem, implying a rhetorical preposition that places the idea of the common good to the centre.
